Nothing short of T satisfactory, regional councils purposeless: Errabelli

Stating that it will oppose any move to establish Regional Councils in Telangana for the development of the region, the Telugu Desam Party Telangana Forum on Tuesday said that it would only be satisfied with a separate state.

Talking to media persons at the NTR Trust Bhavan, Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that the Forum would oppose any move by the Centre to establish regional councils in Telangana for the development of region as “development would only be possible with the creation of a separate state.”

“The Centre is mulling over a proposal to set up the regional councils. These councils would serve no purpose,” he said.

Mr Dayakar Rao added, “We are totally opposed to Centre’s move to set up regional and economic councils. Except Telangana, we do not want any regional councils. The development of the region will be possible with the state formation only.”

Reacting on Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao urging the TDP leaders from Telangana to resign and assuring them that they would be re-elected, Mr Dayakar Rao stated that it would be the people of the region who would be re-electing anyone, not KCR.

“Why would we believe KCR? An assurance by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee would hold more weight, not KCR’s words,” the TDP leader stated.

“The TDP Legislators would think of resigning from their posts if the TPJAC gives an assurance,” Mr Dayakar Rao added.

He asked the TPJAC to make concerted efforts towards the separate state formation instead of acting as KCR’s mouthpiece.

Mr Dayakar Rao also urged the TPJAC to convene round-table conference to discuss under whose tenure (the TDP’s or the Congress’), the region witnessed more development.

“Instead of targeting the TDP, the TPJAC can organise round-table conferences to discuss all other issues in connection with Telangana,” he stated.

Mr Dayakar Rao also expressed his condolences over the demise of Telangana ideologue K Jayashankar and expressed sympathies to his family members.
