Expressing his immense shock and grief at the passing away of Telangana Rashtra Samithi founder member and academician Professor Kothapalli Jayashankar, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday declared the party would observe a three-day mourning period as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor said that all official programmes and functions would be suspended for three days as a mark of respect to the late Telangana ideologue. Talking to media persons separately after placing wreaths on the body of the late leader, both Chandrasekhar Rao and Prof Kodandaram called on the people of the region to fulfill Prof Jayashankar’s dream of a separate Telangana state. The two leaders, apart from a host of other leaders and admirers of Prof Jayashankar, rushed to Warangal in order to pay homage to the man who was instrumental in bringing the movement for a separate state to its present stage, on the verge of becoming a reality.
