Condemning the statement of former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy that he would cancel the East Coast Power Plant agreement immediately after becoming the Chief Minister, Handlooms and Textiles Minister P Shankar Rao on Wednesday asked how can he become Chief Minister without the support of people and MLAs.

Talking to media persons at Assembly Media Point, Dr Shankar Rao criticized the former MP for issuing such baseless statements. He questioned whether Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has the qualification to become the Chief Minister.

“Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will not become the Chief Minister unless he joins the Congress party for his political career and his growth,” Dr Shankar Rao stated.

The Minister said the coterie around Mr Jaganmohan Reddy is spoiling his career by misguiding him and described these ‘supporters’ as `Acid Legs’. When asked to explain the term ‘Acid Legs’, Dr Shankar Rao said that these people destroy everything in the areas they go.

The Minister also condemned the anti-High Command remarks made by party MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud. He said the High Command was observing the leaders’ statements and would take disciplinary action against them at an appropriate time.

Dr Shankar Rao also expressed his ‘complete solidarity’ to the Million March which is planned to be organized in the city on March 10, as part of the attempt to build pressure on the Centre for introduction of a Bill on Telangana in Parliament.

Reacting on the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Venkaiah Naidu’s statement that Telangana MPs should stage a dharna in front of Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s residence for Telangana Bill instead their protests before the Gandhi statue on Parliament premises, Dr Shankar Rao asked the BJP leader to direct his party cadre to stage a dharna before the BJP office in New Delhi.

“The Congress is not in a position to seek the advice of BJP leaders,” he stated.
