Karimnagar, July 20 :-
After Mahboobnagar, now it is the turn of the Karimnagar District Review Committee (DRC) meeting that witnessed unruly scenes.
The DRC met at the Collector’s Conference Hall here on Monday under the chairmanship of the District Incharge Minister, Mr Jupalli Krishna Rao, to review the progress of the developmental works taken up in the district. As the legislators from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Telangana Rshtra Samithi (TRS) wanted to know what measures the State Government has initiated to check the moves of the neighbouring Maharashtra Government to stop the construction of Babli project, the Minister remarked that the Opposition members are sheding crocodile tears.
The Minister, however, said that both the State and the Central Government are seized of the matter and are taking some urgent measures to bring the Babli project works taken up by the Maharashtar Government to a halt, the TDP and the TRS members said that the Congress Government in the State and the United Progressive Government at the Centre are totally neglecting the interests of the Telangana region. (The Telangana region will eb affected if the Babli works are complete).
Responding to the allegations, the Minister hit back saying “you are only shedding crocodile tears. Do not project youself as the saviours of the Telangana people. We know what to do.” This kicked up trouble and the TDP and the TRS MLAs were immediately on their feet demanding that the Minister withdraw his remarks. They even brought the proceedings of the meeting to a halt. The DRC meeting that was called on Monday after a gap of one year and it ended abruptly without completing the agenda.
Only on Saturday, the Mahboobnagar DRC meet witessed fireworks following some unsavory remarks made by the Incharge Minister, Mr Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and the Minister, Mrs D K Aruna, against the TDP legislators.
