Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Thursday asked Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao to see the pathetic condition of Seemandhra farmers.
Talking to media persons after enquiring about the farmers’ woes in Chirala and Ongole, the PRP chief said the KCR, who claims that Telangana suffered a major injustice in agriculture sector, should visit villages in Seemandhra regions to know the ground realities and farmers woes.
Continuing his Rythu Paramarsha Yatra on third day in the district, Mr Chiranjeevi said the farmers in the state were completely disheartened over the announcement of meagre package. He added that the relief package was too low to stem the spate of farmer suicides.
Hailing the government move of lifting police cases against students and agitators, who participated in the separate statehood agitation, he said that the state government and MPs should show their commitment in announcing the revised financial package for rain-hit farmers.
Taking a dig at Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s hunger strike for farmers’ cause, Mr Chiranjeevi said the farmers in the state never forget how Naidu treated them during his nine-year stint.
Instead of spending huge amount of money for conducting `Rythukosam’ at Guntur district, he suggested that Mr Naidu should have spent that amount for farmers cause.
Regretting the statement of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy that agriculture was not a profitable business, he appealed to government to make efforts to farm activity as professional and profit-oriented.
Reacting on the submission of Justice B N Srikrishna commission report to the Centre, the PRP chief said the government should clear the doubts among people of state by disclosing the contents in the report within two days.
