Thousands of people welcomed Kadapa Member of Parliament YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday as he resumed his ‘Odarpu Yatra’ from Rudrakota village in Nellore district.
During this leg of the Odarpu Yatra, taken out to console the families of those who died of shock or committed suicide in the aftermath of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s death, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will visit 36 homes. He will gift Rs one lack each to these families.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy successfully completed the tour in Prakasam district recently, despite muted opposition and lack of support from his party’s leaders.
The Kadapa had earlier completed his yatra in West Godavari, Khammam, Srikakulam and East Godavari districts and was forced to abandon it in the Warangal district of the state.
The AICC had earlier announced Rs one lakh as ex-gratia to those families for whom the Odarpu Yatra was planned in the first place. The High Command had also told Mr Jaganmohan Reddy to assemble the beneficiaries at one plane and console them, but this too was refused.
