In January, the Congress government announced the replacement of the Nandi Awards with the Gaddar Awards, a move aimed at recognizing contributions to Telugu cinema, theatre, and television. The government had called upon industry stakeholders to provide feedback and suggestions to ensure the successful implementation of this new initiative.

However, the industry's silence has been met with concern and disappointment from the Chief Minister. Speaking at an event in Ravindra Bharathi on Monday, Revanth Reddy remarked, “We announced the Gaddar Awards as a way to honor the contributions and achievements within the Telugu film industry, but it is disheartening to see no engagement or response from the industry leaders."

He stressed that the awards were named after the revered revolutionary singer of Telangana, Gaddar, as a tribute to his legacy. Revanth Reddy expressed his hope for collaboration with the industry to ensure that the Gaddar Awards become a true celebration of Telugu cinematic heritage.

"I had hoped for a collaborative effort, where the filmmakers, actors, and other stakeholders would come together to make the Gaddar Awards a true celebration of our cinematic heritage. But there has been no response from the Telugu film industry so far. I don't know the reasons why they are silent. Their input is crucial for the success of this initiative, and their silence is disappointing," the Chief Minister stated.

He reiterated his commitment to the Gaddar Awards and urged the industry to come forward with their proposals.
