The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Tuesday demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh visit Andhra Pradesh to get first-hand knowledge of the turmoil in the state.
Talking to media persons on Tuesday, former state BJP president Bandaru Dattareya said that the Prime Minister’s visit was a necessity so that he could order appropriate measures to bring the situation under control.
The senior BJP leader criticised the rule of Chief Minister K Rosaiah, by saying that the state is reeling under several problems. He said that ‘fertilizers and fee reimbursement’ issues have compelled the farmers and students to take to the streets to fight for their rights.
“The State is reeling under a financial crisis, besides this, despite ample rains, the farmers are facing shortage of fertilisers in Telangana region,’’ pointed out Mr Dattareya.
He also wondered if the state was under President’s Rule, since Mr Rosaiah was making so many trips to New Delhi to seek advice.
The BJP leader also condemned the stony welcome to the TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu at Pargi while on his way to Mahabubnagar district. The BJP leader demanded that the TDP make its stance clear over Telangana issue.
