CM KCR resigns, Governor accepts. Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) tendered his resignation on Sunday following the electoral setback of his party in the Assembly elections.
KCR's Officer on Special Duty (OSD), P. Rajashekar Reddy, officially conveyed the Chief Minister's resignation to Governor Tamilisai Soundarajan at Raj Bhavan. In a symbolic act of departure, KCR, accompanied by his personal staff, proceeded to his farm house in Erravalli in two unescorted vehicles.
KCR, who held the office of Chief Minister for two consecutive terms from 2014-18 and 2018-23 since the formation of the State, chose to step down in light of the electoral outcome.
Governor Tamilisai graciously accepted KCR's resignation and requested him to continue as the Chief Minister until the formation of the new government. This move comes in the aftermath of the convincing victory of Revanth Reddy's Congress over the BRS in the recently concluded Telangana elections.
