Arvind Swamy, the handsome actor of 90's later emerged in late 2010's as stylish villain. Though he is a Tamil actor, He was quite popular to Telugu audience too with dubbing films. Then in his second innings he made an impression as a charming antagonist.
Arvind Swamy is considered as Director Mani Ratnam's team member. As Mani Ratnam introduced him with Rajinikanth and Mammootty starrer Thalapathy in which he played a small role. Then Mani Ratnam went on casting Arvind Swamy as lead in his later films Roja and Bombay, both became sensational hits accross India. With those two films Arvind Swamy earned stardom and recognition.
Minsara Kanuvu (Merupu Kalalu in Telugu) was another superhit in Tamil which co-stars Prabhu Deva and Kajol. Then he debuted in Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi films. Due to continuous failures and many films stalled after completion resulted him leaving the movies. He only appeared in a guest role in Mani Ratnam's Sakhi in 2000.
Arvind Swamy switched careers and looked after his father's business VD Swamy and Company as director and became very successful in international trade and construction businesses. Then after meeting with an accident he injured his spine and got partially paralysed. It took 5 years for him to get back to normal.
Again in 2013, Mani Ratnam gave him a role in his Kadal (Kadali in Telugu) and bring him back to films. But, the major breakthrough came with Thani Oruvan starring Jayam Ravi where he played the role of an antagonist. He reprised his role in Telugu version, Dhruva starring Ram Charan. These films made him quite popular again. He played key roles in several films since then. One of the lead roles in Mani Ratnam's Nawaab and played the role of MGR in Jayalalitha 's biopic Thalaivi headlined by Kangana Ranaut. Recently he was seen in Naga Chaitanya starrer Custody.
