Gopichand who is the younger son of popular Director T Krishna has lost his father and brother at his tender age. He decided to pursue his career in films only to continue the legacy of his father T Krishna. Though he started as a Hero, he got a breakthrough as villain and did many popular antagonist roles. Then he got a turning point as a Hero and slowly builds his action hero image with aggressive characters.
Gopichand introduced with Tholivalapu in 2001 as Hero. The film received mixed reactions and when he in doubt about his next, Director Teja who was ruling at that time with newcomers has made him a villain in Jayam which also marks debut of Nithiin as Hero. Gopichand got huge fame as a villain and he continued doing villain roles in Prabhas's Blockbuster Varsham and Mahesh Babu's much acclaimed Nijam.
In 2004, Gopichand got a turning point in his career as a lead hero with Yagnam. His performance is lauded and also bagged a commercial success. Then his next two films Andhrudu and Ranam became Superhits and brought him stardom and a market in his own. When he is going great as a commercial hero, he did Okkadunnadu with director Chandrasekhar Yeleti which has a unique plot and won critical acclaim.
Once again with Lakshyam, Shouryam and Sankham he scored Superhits with commercial action entertainers. Then he joined hands with Puri Jagannadh and did Golimaar which portrayed him as an encounter specialist and became a commercial success. After back-to-back set backs with Wanted and Mogudu. Gopichand and Chandrasekhar Yeleti collaborated again for Sahasam, a treasure hunt film which won numerous accolades.
Then in the last decade despite of his strong efforts and hardwork Gopichand scored only two successes Loukyam and Seetimaarr. Now he is trying to score a solid hit and make a comeback with Gopichand31 directed by Kannada director A Harsha.
