The Kerala Story which was released amidst controversies has turned them in favor of it. The Kerala Story has become the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of 2023. The film has claimed second place after SRK starrer Pathaan and has overtaken Ranbir-Shraddha's Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Salman Khan starrer Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan.

The Kerala Story has collected so far at the box office in India is Rs 156.69 crore. The top five films of 2023 currently are Pathaan, The Kerala Story, Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, and Bholaa. Reports have also stated that seeing the current numbers, the film is likely to surpass Rs 200 crore in another week.

Produced by Vipul Shah, The Kerala Story claims to be a story about a few women from Kerala who were forced to convert and recruited by ISIS. The film is banned in West Bengal and multiplexes in Tamil Nadu have stopped its screening citing the law and order situation, whereas BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh have given it a tax-free status. Adah Sharma is seen in the lead role whole Sudipto Sen directing the film.
