PS1 Bags Six Nominations At Busan Film Festival

Mani Ratnam's Magnum Opus Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 created history in Kollywood. It emerged as Tamil Film Industry Hit. It eneded its run at the boxoffice collecting a massive Rs 500 Crores worldwide. The story of. Holas and their legend were widely recieved by all Tamil people accross the world. Though it didn't connected that much with other language audieces, it attained a cult status among Tamil audiences.  The nominations for the 16th Asian Film Awards were announced on Saturday, ahead of the March 12 presentation in Hong Kong. 

Surprisingly, Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan 1 has received more nominations than SS Rajamouli's RRR. While PS1 has been nominated under six categories, including Best Film, Best Original Music, Best Production Design, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Costume Design, RRR is competing in only two categories, Best Visual Effects and Best Sound. SS Rajamouli has recieved prestigious New York Film Critics Circle award in Hollywood recently as Best Director and RRR is cruising ahead in its race to Oscars.

Coming to Busan Film Festival, PS 1 and RRR were behind renowned Director Park Chan-wook’s Korean film, Decision To Leave, which won the Best Director Award at the Cannes International Film Festival 2022, has topped the list with 10 nominations. The film is competing in the Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Original Music, Best Production Design, and Best Sound categories.

Ponniyin Selvan Part 2, PS 2 is releasing worldwide on April 28, 2023.
