Legendary music director Ar Rahman celebrates his 56th birthday today. He is fondly called as ‘Isai Puyal’ and ‘Mozart of Madras’. He has been honoured with prestigious accolades over the years for his works, including six National Film Awards, two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe Award and many more. In 2010 he was conferred with nation's third highest civilian award, Padma Bhushan by Indian government.
Ar Rahman was used to compose music for advertisements and with Mani Ratnam discovering his talent, he has entered into films.
