Sunil as hero: Maryada released to packed halls

Well-known Tollywood comedian Sunil who has been remoulded as hero in director SS Rajamouli's film Maryada Ramanna experienced a new fervour of stardom on Friday. The film, set against Rayalaseem faction feuds, was released to more than 300 theatres in the state to packed houses and recorded a rousing reception from the audiences across the state and his fans in particular.

Director Rajamouli knew what will set the screens ablaze in Andhra Pradesh. He tried to push in a new genre in Maryada Ramanna, by casting a known comedian as the protagonist opposite Saloni. Sunil provides a lot of entertainment yet again. Maryada Ramanna is fun, full of thrills and suspense  into one-- all in the right quantities.

The story has been shown in two perspectives-- villainy as well as hospitality. The hero's father and the villain's brother are killed in factionallism when the hero Ramu (Sunil) was still an infant. His mother runs away with Ramu to Hyderabad.

Years later, Ramu takes up a job as a delivery boy to keep his hearth running. He transports gunny bags of groceries on his tattered bicycle. All from the blues, Ramu learns that he has a plot of land in his native village. His neighbours warn him about the R'seema factionalism.

Just at the time he comes across the petite Saloni while she was running to catch a train. He extends his hand only to be pulled out on to the platform. However, they catch the train and he is quite awe struck by her charms and drawing skills. A few humorous scenes later they reach their destinations.

The movie is interlaced with fun, thrill, suspense and entertainment. Rajamouli ensures that there is no dull moment in the entire film. The humourous elements are situational. The screenplay ensures the right blend of ingredients.

The dialogues are in the Rayalaseema dialect and nothing is out of place. The musical score by Keeravani fills a breeze of fresh air into the commercial hit movie.

Produced by Devineni Prasad and S Yarlagadda, the songs of the film have already been released and are doing a brisk business. The voiceover has been done by actor Raviteja. The cast of the film include Nagineedu, Brahmaji, Rao Ramesh, Sandhya, Venugopal and others
