Currently Avatar 2 is ruling the box-office. Despite mixed reviews and lengthy duration complaints, audiences are thronging to theatres to watch the visual wonder. Especially the two Telugu states are recording huge numbers for Avatar Way Of The Water when compared to other parts in the country. Trade is expecting that the 3 days total will be around Rs 45-50 Crores gross in AP, TS. This Christmas week four new releases are getting ready to hit the screens amidst Avatar2 wave. While Ravi Teja Dhamaka, Nikhil 18 Pages are straight films, Vishal Laatti and Nayanthara Connect are dubbing films.
Dhamaka featuring Ravi Teja in a dual role. This is a must win for Ravi Teja as his last two films but dust at the boxoffice. He needs to score a success badly. Dhamaka runtime is 2 Hrs 18 Mins. Nikhil who recently scored a blockbuster with Karthikeya 2 wants to continue his success with 18 Pages. Anupama Parameswaran is the female lead in this love story with a twist. 18 Pages duration is 2 Hrs 17 Mins. Vishal has been off the radar due to back to back debacles since the last couple of years. He is pinning hopes on his upcoming film Laatti. The run-time of Laatti is 2 Hrs 24 Mins. Nayanthara's first release after marriage is Connect. This horror thriller is produced by herself and her husband Vignesh Shivn. The horror film with a short duration of 1 Hr 39 Mins like English films doesn't have any interval.
All the four films are releasing on December 23rd for Christmas weekend. All these films are carrying decent buzz but none of them are hyped projects. Avatar 2 is having a good run. Even it dips during week days, it is expected to have good run during weekends with families opting for a 3D version. So, unless the new releases generate very good talk and reviews it will be tough to survive at the box office facing Avatar2. Among all these films Dhamka is having a slight edge as it is packed with commercial elements and a couple of mass songs are already became hits. We can expect good opening for Dhamaka but rest is depended on the content and talk of the film.
