Ajay Devgn Drishyam 2 Joins Rs 200 Crore Club

Ajay Devgn's sequel to his first part, Drishyam 2 opened at the theatres three weeks ago. Right from the day 1 it has become a blockbuster with excellent word of mouth and housefull advance bookings. Drishyam 2 brought back the glory of pre-covid days of cinema at the boxoffice. Many doubted whether it will continue its terrific start. It surpassed all expectations and created a festive atmosphere at the ticket windows among trade and exhibitors. It broke every myth and ememrged as 100 crore grosser in its first week itself breathing a new hope to Bollywood trade. 

Drishyam 2 was released on 18th November, 2022 in 3300+ screens and collected massive 15.38 cr nett on day one which was even higher than Ajay Devgn Starrer Tanhaji which stands at 15.10 cr. It is to be noted that Tanhaji was released during pre pandemic times. The film crossed 100 Crore mark in its first week but faced a tough competition and shared screens with another big film Bhediya starring Varun Dhawan. But, Bhediya failed to live upto its hype and Dirshyam 2 used it to its full advantage and kept rising it's bar. Drishyam 2 collected Rs 163 Crores in two weeks taking a complete lead over the new releases and with a superb 3rd weekend, Drishyam 2 collected Rs 196 Crores in its three weeks. It crossed Rs 200 Crore nett mark by 23rd day.

Drishyam 2 also performed well at OS, it collected Rs 50 Crores in Overseas and taking its total to Rs 300 Crores worldwide. It still has open ground until Avatar 2 storm takes over from December 16.
