Kamal Haasan dreamed of Ponniyin Selvan

Ponniyin Selvan happens to be the dream project of star director Maniratnam. The project is slated for a grand release on September 30. The film has an ensemble cast of Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Ashwin Kakamanu in pivotal roles.

But it is coming out that universal star Kamal Haasan longtime back planned Ponniyin Selvan. Wayback in 1989 spoke about Ponniyin Selvan and his desire to team with Maniratnam. He even planned to rope in Hollywood technicians and Ilayaraja, PC. Sriram for the project and planned the project in two parts. However, with the budget shooting over 2crs he put the project on the back burner. At that time , even actors like Prabu and Satyaraj agreed to do the film.

Finally Maniratnam is realising his dream of Ponniyin Selvan. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. Currently Kamal Haasan is giving voice over to Ponniyin Selvan.
