The makers of Natasimha Balakrishna's Gautami Putra Satakarni and Anushka's Rudramadevi got a huge shock from the Supreme Court. The Highest Court of the country issued notices to the makers of both films after hearing the complaint filed by The Cine Prekshaka Viniyogadarula Sangham (Movie Viewers Association).
It is known that the makers of Gautami Putra Satakarni got tax exemption from the then Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments while the makers of Rudramadevi got the tax exemption from Telangana government. Movie Viewers Association in its complaint alleged that though the producers got the benefit of the tax exemption from the government, they did not pass on the benefit to the movie lovers and charged high ticket rates in the theatres.
It has to be seen how the makers react to these allegations and respond to the notices from the Supreme Court. However, till now the production houses, First Frame Entertainments, and Gunaa Team Works are yet to confirm and respond on the notices and the latest development.
