Bandh against 'Odarpu Yatra' benumbs Warangal

Protesting against the 'Odarpu Yatra' launched by Kadapa MP Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Jount Action Committee of  political parties of Telangana gave a bandh call in Warangal district on Tuesday.

In response to the bandh call against the Yatra, the Road Transport Corporation services were  suspended and most of the traders downed their shutters in the day.

Nine hundred and eighty seven buses all over the district were off the roads. The Telangana supporters staged dharnas in front of the bus depots in the district.

About 100 Telangana supporters were arrested in Hanamakonda while another 120 Telangana supporters were arrested at  Jangaon. Many Telangana  activists were also taken into  custody in places like Mahaboobababd, Torruur, Parakala, Mulugu and Narsampet.

Several activists also protested against the allotment of a land for erecting the statue of YS Rajasekhar Reddy at Warangal Chowrasta.

The doctors of MGM Hospital at Warangal staged a sit-in in front of the Hospital. The Singareni Colliery workers also abstained from their duties and took part in the bandh.The actual commencement of Jagan's Odarpu Yatra in Warnagal district is scheduled for May 28.
