Naandhi Review, What’s Behind?

Allari Naresh is going through toughest phase in his career with back to back flops. He is pretty confident of making strong comeback with Naandhi that marks directorial debut of Vijay Kanakamedala. Will this film be a perfect start for the director and provide much needed break for Naresh?

Naandhi Story Review:

Surya Prakash (Allari Naresh) is an innocent software engineer who leads a happy life with his parents. But he is arrested in a murder case of a popular advocate Raja Gopal and is sent to jail as under trial prisoner. When he almost loses hope Varalakshmi takes up the case to defend him. How the two fight against corrupt police officer and a big politician using section 211 forms crux of the story.

Naandhi Artists, Technicians Review:

Inspired by true incidents, Vijay Kanakamedala came up with a unique story to enlighten citizens over the powerful section 211 which is meant to give perfect justice to the innocent prisoners who are subjected to police brutality. While first half of the film speaks about police brutality in realistic manner, the second half is about how protagonist with help of a young and dynamic advocate takes revenge using 211 section of Indian penal code. Though cinematic liberty is taken, that won't disturb the narration flow. Abburi Ravi's thought-provoking dialogues are the biggest strength of the film.

Cameraman Sid followed different patterns for different moods and his work is laudable. While prison scenes had dark shade, visuals in romantic songs are vibrant. Sricharan Pakala scored couple of melodies and a heart-touching number. However, he gets distinction for background score. Editor Naveen Nooli should have chopped the film’s length to make it more engaging. Production values of SV2 Entertainment are good.

Onto artists, it's best performance so far by Allari Naresh who simply lived in the role. His body transformation and voice modulation for different scenes is impeccable. It's definitely an award winning performance from the comedy king who proves that he can equally pull off serious and intense roles. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar makes great impact in second half as a promising lawyer. She got a meaty role and utilized it completely. Harish Uthaman is a right choice for the role of a corrupt police officer and he did give full justice. Priyadarshi and Praveen did emotional characters. Vinay Varma is okay as a dishonest politician. Others played their parts.

Naandhi Review Rating Analysis:

Making films in realistic approach itself is a brave attempt by Allari Naresh, Vijay Kanakamedala and team. Thankfully, there is only situational comedy and Vijay didn’t forcibly include special tracks to provide laughs. It’s an honest effort, but the length is a big drawback. At least 10 minutes of the film needs to be chopped off as films of this genre needs crisp runtime.

The film begins depicting the main plotline of how innocents are facing troubles as under trial 

prisoners in jails. Then, Allari Naresh is introduced as dejected under trial prisoner who lost all hopes of coming out of jail. The flashback elevates emotional bonding between father and son. The romantic track was convincing and placement of songs was just right. Then, the twist in the tale arrives with Naresh arrested as prime suspect in a murder case and from here on story turns serious. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar’s entry gives another twist to story and it’s intermission as well.

Second half begins on an interesting note justifying Varalakshmi’s act in the jail. Then, courtroom scenes are substantial with Varalakshmi proving Naresh as innocent in the murder case. But, that’s not the end. Section 211 is all about Naresh taking revenge and also introducing citizens their right to fight for the justice. After some drama, actual culprit in the case and the real motive is revealed. Finally, a happy ending to the story with justice served in the case.

On the whole, Naandhi is a hard-hitting film and also an educational one for people of India who are unaware of many useful sections. The film will definitely amaze those who enjoy serious subjects and courtroom dramas. CJ goes with 2.75 star rating and the film’s fate depends on how B and C centers receive it.
