Jagapathi Babu who has become busy in his second innings as character artist in all south Indian languages is venturing into Bollywood with Taanaji. The periodic drama film starring Ajay Devgn will have Jagapathi Babu playing a crucial role.
Jagapathi Babu’s intensive look as a soldier has been unveiled. The look resembles that of Satyaraj as Kattappa in SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali.
Directed by Om Raut, Ajay Devgn will play the role of Tanaji Malusare, one of Shivaji’s generals in the seventeenth century in the film.
Tanaji is the celebrated warrior who is known for the Battle of Sinhagad in 1670. At Shivaji's request, he pledged to recapture the fortress of Kondana near Pune. According to legend, he received the summons while at his son's wedding, and immediately left the festivities.
Taanaji and his troops scaled an impregnable fort with the help of his pet monitor lizard. The warrior and the battle have been enshrined in Marathi povadas.
