Nee Jathagaa Nenundaali Review

Behind the Movie NJN: Despite the critics verdict, original version of ‘Aashiqui 2’ ended as biggest blockbuster joining 100 Crores list. Now, what could be the result if same is remade in Telugu with unfamiliar pairing of Sachin Joshi and Nazia? 

In the Movie NJN: The hard drinking successful singing sensation RJ aka Raghav Jairam (Sachin Joshi) is in final stages of career. Just before losing everything in life, he finds the spark in bar singer Gayathri Nandana (Nazia). Obviously, Gayathri hails from a poor low class family dreams high of becoming a Lata Mangeshkar ends up in between beer and whisky bottles to make both ends meet. Struck by cupid’s arrow, soon Raghav begins giving a new life to Gayathri who becomes top star in no time with awards, amounts leading a busy life. However, Gayathri never distances from Raghav and deeply loves, admires him. 

Rest is how Raghav sinks deep in inferiority while Gayathri zooms high in popularity? Finally, what happened to Raghav forms a part of tragic climax.

Values & Out of the Movie NJN: Even average love stories sell great in market when they are musically high valued. Original ‘Aashiqui 2’ is a super hit just because of exceptional music from Jeet, Ankit and Mithoon. Thankfully, producer Bandla Ganesh Babu picked the same musical team to reinvent the pathos in our Telugu version too. A lyrically superlative ‘Aashiqui 2’ is killed here by unfavorable lyrical work from Chandrabose. Agreed that music speaks many languages, sorry not this time! 

Jeet, Ankit, Mithoon tried their best to create the mood and temperament to run a love story with their music. Unfortunately, neither director Jaya Ravindra nor the lead casting exploited it. Like lyrics, dialogues are also assassinated with pure Hindi to Telugu translation. Critics never complained on our writers for lacking in creative sensibilities. This time, both lyric and dialogue writers dumped their ethics by grotesque translation. 

There is at least one person about whom we can speak positive about. Yes, he is cinematographer Sri Vasanth tried faithfully to inject freshness. Editing by Goutham Raju was also not so bad. On production front, Bandla Ganesh Babu has thrown lavishness on screen with quality making values. 

In relative to Sachin Joshi’s atrocious performances as a hero in past, he is a Super Star here. There was no blank face…director Jaya Ravindra secured him with one or other painful expression. Nazia is not glamorous and had an expressive face to emote well in blubbering scenes. Of the rest Rao Ramesh, Shashank etc did their best.

As love, pain and music are universally the same, just like ‘Aashiqui 2’ surely ‘NJN’ could have been a feel based love story. Notwithstanding, director Jaya Ravindra’s poor execution of scenes without any zest and weak star cast made this one totally pungent. It leaves too much to doubt on what compelled Bandla Ganesh Babu to produce this remake? Well, many already knew the answer as Sachin Joshi. With no worth to hum melodies, ‘NJN’ is a washout musical love story. If main target of films in this genre are youth audience, plainly they are going to avoid this. No ifs and buts, ‘NJN’ is not a favorable movie for your weekend.
