Behind the Movie Rowdy: Combination of RGV and Mohan Babu created lot of interest on the film. With Rayalaseema backdrop and the original look (without makeup) of Mohan Babu, let us see how good is this ‘Rowdy’?

In the Movie Rowdy: Story begins with introduction to Krishna (Manchu Vishnu) and Sirisha (Shanvi) falling in love. Krishna explains the character of his father Anna (Mohan Babu), a faction leader who fights for the well being of people and society. On the opposite side, there is a team of businessmen (Tanikella, Vishwanath, Jeeva) with support of a politician lobbying for the project of Nandavaram. However, Anna is against this project as it would inundate 30 to 40 villages. The villain’s team plays with family of Anna by trapping his elder son Bhushan (Kishore). They took to the extreme step of finishing Anna for business gains. However, Krishna comes to the rescue.

Values & Out of the Movie Rowdy: The only value of ‘Rowdy’ is the RESPECTED performance of Mohan Babu. Of course, Vishnu too had done the part well but it is alone Mohan Babu’s magisterial screen presence engages the audience. As a director RGV is pretty much acquainted to this kind of backdrop and the format of story, script. There are plenty of shades of Bollywood ‘Sarkar’ and it’s the nativity which brings in difference. Unlike the past movies made by RGV in Seema backdrop, this film did not elevate the rugged and barren topographies. Most of the story runs with in the family setup. Bloodshed action episodes are weak link in movie. Unnecessary chases and redundant fights spoiled the flavor. In one more perspective, ‘Rowdy’ also lacked the emotional connect needed to bind the characters with in a family. Looks like RGV has wrapped the project in hurry with a flub-up script that neither has a depth nor variety in presentation.

Sai Karthik’s BGM has become a customary stuff and re-re-re-repetition of this sort of re-recording is making audience to break their heads. Satish Muthyala’s cinematography is second quality work just like the editing of Shyam. Dialogues from Vishwanath are more rhythm oriented which left no final impact. Nevertheless, even an ordinary dialogue becomes extra ordinary when Mohan Babu Sir modulates it.

Vishnu underplayed the character and was a right fit. Shanvi’s glamour show is irrelevant with the subject. Jayasudha played the role to precision. Kishore is average while Tanikella, Jeeva, Vishwanath did their parts.

After watching numerous hallmark films and creative script handling from RGV, this film finds no special place in his best credentials. He is continuing with a bad phase and ‘Rowdy’ is no different. The way scenes are written made it far more inferior. May be for the first time, RGV also missed in common sense! It is sick to see RGV even playing wrong with central Mohan Babu’s characterization. Technically, ‘Rowdy’ is not a quality product of RGV’s established standards. It’s Mohan Babu and Vishnu make it at least a pass-able product with their performances.

Cinejosh Verdict of Rowdy: RESPECT Mohan Babu – DISRESPECT RGV
