Behind the Movie Doosukeltha: Hero Manchu Vishnu enjoyed the success of ‘Denikaina Ready’ and director Veeru Potla has got two back to back hits. Combo of these two is promising and with Mani Sharma’s music doing well, let us see how far Vishnu was able to repeat his magic?

In the Movie Doosukeltha: Story begins in the village of Pichcheshwaram where in a rich family is headed by elder (Kota Srinivas Rao). In the same village, Chinna (Childhood Vishnu) and his low class agrarian family live. Kota’s brother (Nagineedu)’s son Sarweshwar Rao (Rao Ramesh) marries an inter caste girl and haves a baby Chinni (Childhood Lavanya Tripathi). Unable to bear the disrespect, Kota makes Sarweshwar Rao’ wife and Chinni leave the village. Meanwhile, Chinni and Chinna develop special friendship. Fast forward by 13 years, Chinna (Manchu Vishnu) becomes an intelligent young guy while Chinni is grown as Doctor Alekhya (Lavanya Tripathi).

How fate makes them come together when Chinna working as a sensational reporter in TV 2.5 channel was involved in bursting the conspiracy of politician Dileshwar Rao (Pankaj Tripathi), son of Kota? What happened to Alekhya’s one sided love story with Dr Vishrant (Samrat)? Why is Dileshwar Rao’s gang searching for Alekhya? How Chinna saved her using Picheshwar Rao (Vennela Kishore), Veera Brahmam (Brahmanandam)? All these form rest.

Values of the Movie Doosukeltha: As we all know, Veeru Potla is first a writer and then a director. On the same scale, he showed the wits first as writer and then as director for this movie. Major portion of the film just banks and drives on the dialogues because re-uniting a faction/action family with a strong flashback by a brainy hero is seen innumerable times on Telugu screen. Still what makes ‘Doosukeltha’ a time pass film is Veeru Potla’s sharp screen play well supported by performances from Vishnu, Kota, Brahmi, Vennela Kishore, Master Bharath and others. Veeru succeeded in making a regular story format look different and entertaining just because of his writing skills. Looks like Gopi Mohan added some valuable inputs to screenplay. Music by Mani Sharma was as usual superb on background while a couple of songs are directly lifted from Bollywood tunes (‘Rock On’ and ‘Murder’). Sarvesh Murari’s camera work and Marthand K Venkatesh’s editing were also apt. Production values are worth praising.

Performance wise, Vishnu is getting better and better with each movie. He is at so much ease either in delivering comic punches or dancing on agile moves or doing awesome stunts. However, he needs to take care on costumes and styling. Lavanya Tripathi is cute and does not have much to perform here. As usual Kota showed his seniority with a strong screen presence. Brahmanandam, Vennela Kishore, Master Bharath, Raghu Babu are the major forces which made second half completely hilarious. Rao Ramesh, Nagineedu got brief characters and Pankaj Tripathi is just average as villain. Ahuti Prasad, Chitram Srinu gang, Ali, Sravan, Saranya, Suji, Surekha Vani, Samrat, Hema, Ravi Prakash, Annapurna, Rajitha, Usha Sri etc did their portions. Comedy by Posani as TV channel head Avatar was laughable.

Out of the Movie Doosukeltha: Standing up to the pace and speed in title, director Veeru Potla offered a non-stop family entertainer with no breaks and speed breakers. Although there is a vast star cast on hand, he failed to utilize each of their capabilities fully. Looks like many portions on Ali, Suji, Brahmi etc are trimmed during editing. Nevertheless, span of movie even for now is almost 160 minutes which is too high. Even then, Veeru made this old pickled story line turn effective on screen placing gleeful comedy bits throughout. Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna’s cameo gives lead to title song introducing Vishnu on screen.

First half went off smooth with no big strain revealing the complete story during interval block. The philosophy of Vishnu to help in return for those who helped him divulges the core matter in second half. When the plot for second half is confessed on interval block, Veeru took to the challenge of narrating the same with maximum fun. There are nearly three to four sitcom episodes in second half where graph goes on peak. Anyways, there is ample entertainment with fun bones tickling throughout which made ‘Doosukeltha’ a time pass film for weekend. Commercially, Vishnu has a safe product on hand for sure. Range of success has to be decided. Whether this will be on the compass of ‘Denikaina Ready’ or above it? Let us wait and see.
