The year passed off for Tollywood with controversies and not a single mega hit, though the big names made producers happy by somehow netting the money while dubbing films cut into the share of mainline cinema on a few occasions.

Of the many dubbing films, Renugunta had a good storyline while English Vinglish just passed off.

Producer- actor Pundarikakshaih, director V Madhusudhan Rao music director Susarla Dakshina Murthy stage and film artiste Radha Kumari, lyricist and composer Palagummi Padmaraju were among those who departed during the year.

Manchu family had been in the eye of the storm with Manchu Manoj’s Mr Nokia and his brother Manchu Vishnu’s Denikaina ready courting controversies. 

Despiate blocking theaters and convincing small pictures to postpone Businessman and Bodyguard did not come out as smashing hits during Sankrathi 2012 though the fans had a field day in enjoying the one-liners of Mahesh Babu even as the film theme and treatment looks utterly butturly chaotic.

February made some startling names though not necessarily at the box office. Dhoni  came under Prakash Raj’s direction and was like the Indian team’s performance with England series then came SMS with no message and Love Failure but beating them all was Sunil starrer Poola Rangadu which has turned his career graph northward.

Controversies ruled Tollywood with Mr Nokia, had to hurriedly change the name to Mr Nookayya with the Finnish company taking cudgels. Ee Rojullo did not get theatres finally peeped in at March end

Rachcha and Dammu, the films of scions, did not break any records though fans enjoyed them and the customary one-liner in film land that good openings or got the money back doing the rounds.

Gabbar Singh, the remake of Dabangg, made its way to the centre stage amidst mixed response and being the only big film in mid May gathered money if not making waves, but Pavan Kalyan’s fans were happy to see him in uniform and his antics.

Next came Adhinayakudu and did not live up to its promos, though Balakrishna has put in a good performance in three contrasting roles representing three generations. All the best rounded off the half-year of 2012, but not with style.

Eega came out a science fiction film, attracted much publicity and attention but was something was wrong all the way. Onamalu with a simple theme was good but collections were pathetic.    

Julai lived up to its title in August though Sudigadu made some noise and Srimannaryana made its presence.

September brought in reverence with the release of Shiridi Sai, but it was short lived. While Cameraman Ganga tho Ramu babu looked absurd it was Denekaina Ready which hogged the limelight for all the wrong reasons. Matter was taken to streets and finally the courts.

Krishnam Vande jagathgurum, had a powerful theme but lacked in all other subjects andShamurakam was hardly audible as the November chill did not appeal much.

Devaraya became history soon while very few noticed Saarocharu and Mithunam, made no mark despite the bravado of Tanikella Barani.
