Suriya Supports Underprivileged Students Through Agaram Foundation

Tamil actor Suriya has once again highlighted the importance of education by extending financial assistance to deserving students through the Agaram Foundation. Speaking at an educational support event in Chennai, the actor urged young people to prioritise their studies and reminded them that creating social media reels alone cannot secure a successful future.
The programme marked the 47th anniversary of actor Sivakumar’s educational initiative and was held at the Agaram Foundation office in T. Nagar. Financial assistance was provided to 25 meritorious students who had completed Class 12 and were preparing to enter college. Support was also extended to artist Jeevanandan, taking the total assistance reported at the event to ₹13.78 lakh.
Addressing the students, Suriya encouraged them to remain focused on their goals and keep working even when academic progress becomes difficult. He drew a comparison between cinema and real life, explaining that filmmakers can ask actors to repeat a scene, but real life opportunities do not always offer another take. His message stressed persistence, discipline and hard work.
Sivakumar recalled that he had set aside his ₹25,000 remuneration from his 100th film, Rosappu Ravikkaikari, released in 1979, using the interest to help disadvantaged students. Since 2006, Agaram Foundation has continued this educational mission through scholarships and awards. The initiative reflects the family’s long standing commitment to helping students overcome financial barriers and pursue higher education.
