Vijay Deverakonda About Ranabaali vs Jailer 2

Vijay Deverakonda has hit back at the online criticism surrounding his upcoming film Ranabaali, alleging that some social media negativity is deliberately manufactured. At the trailer launch, the actor questioned reels claiming audiences would prefer Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 over his film.
Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16, 2026. The trailer showcases Vijay in a rugged rebel avatar, fighting British oppression in 19th-century South India. Rashmika Mandanna plays the female lead, while Arnold Vosloo appears as the antagonist.
Addressing the release clash, Vijay said that repeated reels promoting Jailer 2 as the better choice appeared suspicious to him. He suggested that such content could be paid promotion, adding to the debate over online campaigns and negativity surrounding big ticket Telugu releases.
Ranabaali draws inspiration from the suffering of people under British colonial rule and the devastating famine of the 1870s, blending historical themes with fictional storytelling. With Jailer 2 arriving on October 15 and Ranabaali following a day later, both films face a crucial festive box office window. Vijay’s remarks have added another talking point to the much discussed clash.
