Vijay Sethupathi Opens Up About Childhood Struggles And Money

Actor Vijay Sethupathi spoke about growing up with financial struggles. In an interview, he recalled facing creditors at home with his father. He said money problems shaped him and taught resilience. From a young age he questioned fate and wanted control over his life.

His goal was always to earn money. He tried business ventures multiple times and mostly failed, but still calls himself an entrepreneur at heart. Before films, he worked as a salesman, cashier, phone booth operator, and later as an accountant in Dubai after completing B.Com.

Sethupathi was not focused on studies, sports or art growing up. His fondest memory is eating fried rice with his father after his 9:30 pm bullet bike rides home. He never planned to act and entered cinema only after returning from Dubai.

Today he is among Tamil cinema’s most versatile actors, known for realistic roles and offbeat choices. He credits early hardship for his work ethic. Despite fame, he continues to pursue business ideas alongside films, saying failure has taught him more than success ever did.
