&nbsp;Mohanlal landed in huge trouble when a routine income tax raid in 2011 in Kochi’s Thevara neighbourhood home, found &nbsp;elephant tusks and ivory artefacts displayed as heirlooms. They were seized under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, which strictly prohibits possession of ivory without government certification and a case was registered.At that time, Mohanlal claimed he tusks came from a captive elephant that died of natural causes and that he kept them as memorabilia. He claimed not to know it was unlawful to keep them. The case slipped into oblivion after the government allowed him to declare the tusks in 2015, and he was issued an ownership certificate in 2016.In 2011, Mohanlal challenged the Kerala High Court , the judgement of &nbsp;Perumbavoor court and got interim stay and it was effective till 2025. In 2016 and 2019, he requested the government to withdraw the case, maintaining that the ivory and tusks were lawfully acquired. The plea was dismissed in 2023. The High Court in 2025, ruled &nbsp;that the ownership certificates issued were not legally valid. The state government was asked to issue a new notification. This came after a group of retired forest officers, conservationists, and former wildlife wardens petitioned the HC over the certificates which allowed him to keep these tusks. The court did not direct the prosecution of the actor.Finally Mohanlal relented and declared to the Forest Department that he possesses 10 elephant tusks, six more than his initial declaration, and 13 ivory idols. Officials at the Malayattoor Divisional Forest Office in Kochi told PTI that the declaration was made under the department’s amnesty scheme, in which individuals can declare unregistered wildlife articles to avoid legal action.The ivory idols he declared include those of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama, and Tirupati Balaji, with a total weight of around 46 kg. There are many scenes and viewers will be left wondering what's going on and where the story is heading and when the first half ends, it comes as a breather for the people.The narration and pace picks up a little bit in the second half though the story progresses no where. The climax twist comes as a relief. Even after the twist, the proceedings are dragged before the film ends making viewers heave a sigh of relief.Smaran Sai's music offered nothing much to rave about. The tunes are not catchy and are not even shot on an appealing manner. However, he made up for it, with his captivating background score. It elevated the mood of the story and proceedings.The cinematography of Karthik Parmar used the colour combinations, grading and camera angles to show the period backdrop in a natural and realistic way.Venkat Maha who handled the editing failed in this aspect. If mythological and elements on God in a story comes naturally then it will connect chords with the people. Only when emotions are strong and realistic, natural, it will help in taking forward the drama or action sequences.With emotions missing , the scenes come and go one after another and viewers are left wondering what was happening. The extreme violence in the marriage looked totally unnecessary and unwanted except for the gory scenes which the director felt would have made an impact on the viewers emotionally.Though the first half had no story, visuals are extravagant and the interval bang covered all the loopholes setting the stage for the second half. However the second half turned out to be extremely slow and all the characters turned unnecessarily loud shouting at the top of their voices. Director included family scenes revolving around children but none of them created an impact. The flashback episode lacked clarity and it is also filled with mindless violence.The climax action episode itself came to more than 30 minutes and the story revolved around it but none of them connected chords with the viewers. Everything goes with loud shouts and intense and senseless action. On top of it, they gave immense torture with irrelevant dialogues on Sanatana Dharma.The background score tuned by Junaid Kumar elevated the scenes to the next level creating the maximum impact. However, at times it turned loud and routine. The cinematography of Soundar Rajan S is top class. The VFX and CGI are of top class most of the time, except in few scenes where they looked pale and substandard.Junaid Kumar - Abhe's songs acted as speed breaks to the narration. Except for the Namo song, others failed to impress and some songs came with in 2-3 minutes gap. Editing left a lot to be desired, especially in the second half. He still followed the same hero elevations, three songs, six fights, item song and cheap comedy scenes.With in five minutes into the story, viewers will be treated the same monotonous scenes that test their patience to the core. It increases with the passage of time and reaches its peak in the second half. The interval comes as a break from this torture. The story lacks basic emotions and everything looks artificial.Everyone passes through the motions and the director's cheap taste is revealed when he showed the rape scene in detail even though it was shown initially. There are many such scenes and that include the CM candidate directing her aides to molest her to gain sympathy. Finally viewers heave a sigh of relief when the film comes to an end.Vijay Mukthavarapu's didn't get much scope to showcase his talent. The scenes in heaven and the swap generate the curiosity levels. The confusion generated entertains with hilarious acts in the first three episodes.The fourth episode takes it to new level with the entertainment and hilarious content. The unraveling of the twists attracts all but from the fifth episode the entertainment takes back seat with thought provoking scenes and few message-oriented dialogues. The final episode ends on an emotional note. At times the fun scenes did not generate the desired result as there are many repetitive scenes that slowed the pace of the film. Compared to the first two seasons, there is more entertainment content in this and so viewers can enjoy. However, some dialogues crossed the line and this makes viewers uneasy.Sriram Madduri's music is decent and the background music added value to the narration. Vishweswar's cinematography is good with rich visuals. The editing of Shravan Katikaneni is ok but could have been more better. The narration starts in a predictable and simple manner, introducing various characters and the ordeal of a newlywed girl at her in-laws' house. The proceedings though offer nothing new and manage to entertain viewers with hilarious scenes before the action blocks emerge.Though Samantha performed well in the action blocks, the scenes fell flat due to a lack of intensity. The runup to the interval block that includes the flashback turns out to be the biggest drawback. With the passage of time, the first half turns underwhelming as emotions fail to connect with Samantha's current and past happenings.From then on, the second half revolves around how the protagonist achieves success overcome all the obstacles. The complete second half turns out to be predictable and lacks the real twists and turns. None of the scenes excites, and even the actors seem to have passed through the motions.The so-called twist, similar to a hit film, didn't offer anything new. But few scenes enthrall viewers, turning the film into a decent one.Santosh Narayanan's music is attractive. He used Muthyala Muggu song in an entertaining way. The second half starts in the similar manner and just when viewers are left to wonder, where the film is heading, the introduction of Vijay Antony turned out tobe the added advantage.He with his screen presence took the film to another level. The screenplay also turned racy and after the predictable pre climax, the climax turned out to be different. Sasi tried to send message to the society about the plight of the widowed women and how the society and especially in the villages view them and what sufferings they undergo silently. Mandlekar. The writers did extensive research on the happenings during the 90s across the globe and the situation prevalent in India. He started the narration in an interesting manner and from then on he maintained a steady pace through out the film till the end.The developments in the then Government, RBI, political circles, opposition parties and how common people reacted are depicted in a perfect and effective manner. The measures taken by the RBI and the opposition faced by the governor during the meetings and the pressures from the government and the coalition politics is highlighted in an interesting way with the tight screenplay. The first half ends with the challenges of the governor becoming bigger and the second half shows how the RBI staff and top officials as a team join hands to convince the government against all odds to take strong decisions and maintain secrecy so that the people's trust will not be broken down or shattered. The film is now releasing on 26 Aug 2026.The film stars Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in important roles. Huma Qureshi was asked about the delay of Toxic and she reacted in the following way.She said “The new release date is August 26. Whatever the reason may have been, I think the focus should now be on the fact that fans are incredibly excited for the film to release. I am very excited too because, from whatever little I have seen, I can say it is a visual spectacle. I don't think audiences have ever experienced action on this scale before. So, it doesn't really matter whether the film releases in March, June or August.
