Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release May Happen After Mid May Amid Song Dispute

Fans of Ranveer Singh are waiting for Dhurandhar 2 to come on OTT. There is no official date yet, but a Delhi High Court case gave a big hint. During a hearing about the Tirchi Topiwale song, the makers said the film will likely not release on OTT before mid May. This has made people think the movie may drop online soon after that. The spy thriller has been running in theatres for seven weeks now and is a huge hit.

The court case is about the famous song Tirchi Topiwale from the 1989 film Tridev. Director Rajiv Rai said Dhurandhar 2 used the song without permission. In the film, the song comes during the climax in a new form called Rang De Lal. Shashwat Sachdev composed the new version. Rajiv Rai and his company Trimurti Films said this is copyright infringement. The court first asked both sides to settle the issue outside court. But the mediation failed. The next hearing is on May 8. During the hearing, B62 Studios told the court that an OTT release is not planned before mid May.

Dhurandhar 2 released in theatres and completed eight weeks on May 14. Most big films come to OTT after eight to ten weeks. So a mid May or late May release makes sense. The first film came on Netflix after a similar run. But many reports say the sequel may stream on JioHotstar this time. Nothing is confirmed yet. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. Aditya Dhar directed it. It is produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.

The movie tells the story of an Indian spy in Karachi and is full of big action scenes. People loved Ranveer’s performance and the scale of the film. The Dhurandhar series has now made over Rs 3,100 crore worldwide. Dhurandhar 2 alone earned around Rs 1,800 crore globally. If the mid May timeline is right, we should get an official announcement very soon.
