RGV gets a jail term

 RGV gets jail term. Ram Gopal Varma known for his maverick ways often find himself on the wrong side of the law and he also knows how to hoodwink law enforcing authorities taking them for a ride. However this time he got a huge shock when he got there month jail term in a check bounce case.

Andheri West court in Mumbai, sentenced Ram Gopal Varma for a three months simple jail term in a cheque bounce case. Ram Gopal Varma failed to appear in front of the court though the case dragged for more than seven years promoting the judge to punish the director issuing a non-bailable warrant.

The Court convicted Ram Gopal Varma under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, which penalises the dishonour of a cheque. Court also directed RGV to pay compensation of Rs 3.72 lakh to the complainant within three months or suffer simple imprisonment for three more months.

Maheshchandra Mishra owner of Shree company lodged the complaint against RGV in 2018. Magistrate YP Pujari said, "No question of set-off under Section 428 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 as the accused has not spent any period in custody during the trial."
