AR Rahman, the musical maestro who has captivated audiences worldwide with his soulful melodies and groundbreaking sound, has reached a new stage in his career. In a recent interview with The Week, the two-time Oscar winner revealed that he no longer feels the need to prove himself. Instead, he's prioritizing projects that bring him joy and inspire future generations.

"I won the Oscars a long time ago, but now, who cares?" Rahman said candidly. He has transitioned from striving for recognition to focusing on his creative instincts, choosing big-budget films and non-film projects that truly resonate with him.

Rahman also expressed his evolving perspective on the creative process, acknowledging a decrease in his tolerance for certain aspects of the industry. He shared, "With age, my tolerance has actually gone down. Two things annoy me: a selfie request with a timer and directors who lead me astray. They will add crazy lyrics, and I ask myself: 'Would I want to perform this on stage?' If the answer is no, I turn it down."

Despite this shift in his approach, Rahman remains incredibly prolific. He has composed music for numerous Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu films this year, including "Ayalaan," "Lal Salaam," "Raayan," "Aadujeevitham," "Maidaan," and "Amar Singh Chamkeela."

Looking ahead, Rahman's calendar is packed with exciting projects across languages. In Telugu, he's returning to the industry after a decade with Buchi Babu Sana's film starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. His Tamil projects include "Thug Life," "Genie," "Kadhalikka Neramillai," "Moon Walk," and Suriya's next film with RJ Balaji.

In Hindi, Rahman will lend his musical magic to "Chhaava," "Lahore 1947," "Tere Ishk Mein," "Ramayana," and "Kamal Aur Meena." He's also composing for Vijay Sethupathi and Aditi Rao Hydari's silent film "Gandhi Talks" and Shekhar Kapur's "Ebony McQueen."

AR Rahman's journey is a testament to his artistic evolution. He has transitioned from proving his worth to finding his own artistic voice and prioritizing passion in his work. As he continues to create music that transcends borders and touches hearts, we can expect to see even more groundbreaking and inspiring work from this musical genius.
