Censor Certificate For Kangana Emergency On Hold

Kangana Ranaut's upcoming film 'Emergency' has sparked controversy ahead of its September 6 release, with the actor-politician clarifying that the film has not been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) due to death threats and pressure to remove certain scenes. 

In a video shared on X, Kangana addressed rumors of the film's clearance, revealing that the censor board has been threatened over scenes depicting Indira Gandhi's assassination and the Punjab riots. The film, in which Kangana portrays the former Indian Prime Minister, faces calls for a ban in Telangana, where Sikh community leaders have accused it of perpetuating negative stereotypes.

The Telangana Sikh Society has petitioned for a ban, claiming the film portrays Sikhs as terrorists and anti-nationals. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has assured community leaders that the state government will consider banning the film's release after legal consultation. 

Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' has ignited a heated debate, with the actor-politician expressing her disappointment at the current state of thinking in the country. Despite the controversy, Kangana remains committed to promoting her film, which also stars Anupam Kher.

As the release date approaches, the outcome of the censorship battle and the film's fate in Telangana remain uncertain. With 'Emergency' set to hit theaters on September 6, the film's clearance and potential ban in Telangana hang in the balance.
