K S Chithra and Uttam Singh to be honored with Lata Mangeshkar Award.Renowned musician Uttam Singh and playback legend K.S. Chithra will be honored with the prestigious National Lata Mangeshkar Award by the Madhya Pradesh government on September 28th. The ceremony, held annually on the birth anniversary of the legendary singer, will take place at a newly constructed auditorium dedicated to Lata Mangeshkar's memory in Indore, her birthplace.

Uttam Singh will receive the award for 2022, while Chithra will be recognized for her contributions in 2023. The award, established in 1984, acknowledges exceptional achievements in the field of light music and carries a cash prize of Rs. 2 lakh and a citation.

This year marks a significant milestone as the ceremony will be held for the first time at the state-of-the-art auditorium built in tribute to the Nightingale of India. Lata Mangeshkar, born on September 28th, 1929, passed away on February 6th, 2022, leaving an irreplaceable void in the Indian music scene.

Past recipients of the esteemed award include musical luminaries like Naushad, Kishore Kumar, and Asha Bhosle, signifying its significant place in honoring artistic excellence.
