Following a successful thanks meet in Hyderabad, Chiyaan Vikram surprised fans by announcing a sequel to his recently released film "Thangalaan." "Thangalaan," which released on August 15th, garnered mixed reviews, but Vikram's performance was widely praised. During the meet, he shared, "Pa Ranjith [director] asked me to mention here that because you all liked 'Thangalaan' so much, we have discussed, and we want to do part 2 very soon."

The film, starring Vikram alongside Parvathy and Malavika Mohanan, blends magical realism with history, set in the 1850s, and revolves around the discovery of gold in North Arcot.

Despite facing stiff competition from releases like Ram Pothineni's "Double iSmart" in the Southern region and Bollywood films "Stree 2" and "Vedaa," "Thangalaan" had a promising opening day, earning Rs 13.30 crore in India, according to Sacnilk.
