Shankar's directorial journey began with Gentleman, starring Arjun, which dealt with donations in the education system. He went on to make a string of blockbusters, including Kadhalan, Indian, Jeans, Mushalavan, Boys, Anniyan, Shivaji: The Boss, Enthiran, Nanban, I, and 2.0.
