Tabu, a cinematic icon who has graced the screen for over three decades, has carved a unique path in the industry, refusing to conform to the pressures of portraying youthfulness. In a recent interview, she shared her perspective on age-appropriate casting, highlighting her steadfast commitment to embracing her age both in real life and on screen.

Tabu, known for her impactful roles and graceful presence, believes that she's "done playing young women onscreen." She asserts that she will not participate in the trend of de-aging through VFX, preferring to authentically portray her age. This stance is evident in her excitement about "Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha," her tenth collaboration with Ajay Devgn, where director Neeraj Pandey avoided the de-aging route.

Tabu reminisces about a time when age-appropriate casting was the norm, pointing out that the practice of older actors portraying younger characters is a recent phenomenon. She draws parallels to the past, when actors would portray the younger versions of characters who would eventually become figures like Dharmendra or Dilip Kumar. She believes "Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha" continues this tradition, which she wholeheartedly supports.

Tabu's commitment to authenticity extends beyond her own roles. She criticizes the industry's tendency to cast older actors in younger roles, firmly stating, "I would refuse those parts. I don’t think that I’ll be open to playing a 30-year-old anymore. I’ve no option but to embrace my age."

When discussing her working relationship with Ajay Devgn, Tabu reveals a playful dynamic. She playfully calls him a "silent bully," highlighting his mischievous nature and quiet way of pulling pranks.

"Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha," a musical romantic drama spanning 23 years (2000-2023), promises to be a compelling cinematic journey. The film, produced by Shital Bhatia, Narendra Hirawat, and Kumar Mangat Pathak, received attention at the Cannes Film Festival and is set for an August 2nd release. Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar portray the younger versions of Ajay and Tabu's characters.

With a rich history of collaborations, Ajay and Tabu's pairing in this film promises to be a captivating experience, further solidifying their individual and collective impact on Indian cinema.
