The director acknowledged the need to break free from the typical male-centric narratives she has been associated with, highlighting a turning point in her career. "I have just been boxed into doing films where I have to work with a male protagonist," she said. "I think I need to get out that box. In fact, Seema Biswas Ma'am didn't want to do 'Sarfira' in the beginning. But after meeting and talking with me, she agreed to be a part of it."

Kongara also expressed her long-held admiration for Amitabh Bachchan, revealing her dream to direct the legendary actor someday. "I have Dulquer Salmaan, Mohanlal, Mammootty on my wishlist, and the dream is to direct Amitabh Bachchan someday," she revealed. "I worked with Abhishek Bachchan on 'Yuva' and he even got me a book autographed by his dad. He took me aside and said, 'Papa, she's your fan.' I'm crazily in love with his craft."

Kongara's passion for Bachchan stems from her time as an assistant director on Mani Ratnam's "Yuva." The director recalled a heartwarming interaction where Bachchan personally introduced her to his father, recognizing her deep admiration.

"Sarfira," Kongara's latest film, released on July 12th and features Paresh Rawal, who she describes as someone she has long admired and feels fortunate to have collaborated with. The director's expressed desire to explore female-centric stories and her ambition to work with some of India's most celebrated actors promises exciting projects for the future.
