'Footage' has been awaited by those who follow Malayalam cinema. The trailer of Manju Warrier starrer, scheduled to hit the theatres on August 2, was unveiled by the makers. Billed as Malayalam's first found Footage film, it marks the directorial debut of Saiju Sreedharan, best known as an editor.
The trailer, presented in a found Footage style and accompanied by an acoustic piece with Hindi lyrics, initially follows a free-spirited vlogging couple, played by Vishak Nair and Gayathri Ashok. It takes an interesting turn towards the end when they encounter a mysterious character, played by Manju, promising to be an intriguing thriller.
The trailer raises curiosity with mysterious elements. It is majorly set against the backdrop of an apartment building during the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition to directing and editing, Saiju has co-written Footage with Shabna Mohammed.
The film has Shinoz wielding the camera, while the post-rock band aswekeepsearching is credited with the original motion picture soundtrack. It is produced by Bineesh Chandran and Saiju Sreedharan, along with Rahul Rajeev and Suraj Menon as co-producers. Footage is presented by renowned Hindi filmmaker and actor Anurag Kashyap.
