Nayanthara To Return As Goddess In Ammoru Thalli Sequel

An official announcement regarding the  second part to the 2020 Nayanthara starrer Mookuthi Amman / Ammoru Thalli came out. It was already in the works. Mookuthi Amman production banner Vels Film International confirmed the sequel, starring Nayanthara in the titular role of a goddess. Vels Film International Chairman Ishari K Ganesh also returns as the producer for the film.

Mookuthi Amman revolves around a struggling reporter named Engels Ramasamy (RJ Balaji) who teams up with a local goddess (Nayanthara) to expose a fake godman named Bhagavathi Baba (Ajay Ghosh), exploiting their community. All this plot is narrated in a humorous tone which attracted the audiences. 

Also starring Moulee, Urvashi, and Smruthi Venkat, Mookuthi Amman released directly on Disney+ Hotstar in 2020. The original film's cast also includes Indhuja Ravichandran and Yashika Aannand. 

The original cast and lead actor-director RJ Balaji are expected to return for the sequel as well. However, the makers are yet to confirm the same. Only Nayanthara's return is greenlit for now.
