ED summons Jacqueline Fernandez. Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on July 10 for another round of questioning in a money laundering case linked to alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. This marks the sixth time the ED has summoned Fernandez for questioning in this ongoing investigation.

Fernandez has consistently maintained her innocence, claiming she was unaware of Chandrashekhar's criminal activities. In a Delhi court appearance, she alleged that Chandrashekhar manipulated her emotions, leaving her feeling “life hell”.

The case involves an alleged ₹200 crore cheating scheme, which has implicated other high-profile figures, including Aditi Singh, wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh. The ED alleges that Chandrashekhar used the proceeds of his criminal activities to purchase lavish gifts for Fernandez.

The ED charge sheet filed in 2022 detailed numerous expensive gifts, including a Persian cat and an Arabian horse, that Fernandez received from Chandrashekhar over the years. The agency claims that despite knowing about his criminal history, Fernandez accepted these "valuables, jewellery and costly gifts."

Fernandez has been subject to a travel ban since the investigation began, preventing her from leaving the country. An active Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued against her in 2021, leading to her brief detention at Mumbai International Airport.

In April 2022, the ED attached assets worth ₹7.27 crore belonging to Fernandez due to her alleged connection to Chandrashekhar. The ED stated that Chandrashekhar used Pinky Irani, his longtime associate and co-accused, to deliver gifts worth ₹5.71 crore to Fernandez, which were "proceeds of crime generated by criminal activities, including extortion."
