Distributor Startling Claim On Kalki Collections

Distributor startling claim on Kalki 2898 Ad collections. Despite the widespread hype and impressive star cast, "Kalki 2898 Ad" is experiencing a decline in box office collections in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, according to a leading exhibitor-turned-distributor.

While the film enjoyed a strong opening day, driven by the star power of Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, and a large number of screenings, it has faced a noticeable dip in the following days.

"It was good on day one, but it's losing steam. On the second day, it marked minimal collections. For two days, it clocked Rs 55 crore share out of Rs 95 crore gross collections being circulated," he revealed. "Many theaters in Rajahmundry, Vizag, Kurnool, Nizamabad, and other major centers are struggling to attract large crowds."

The source further highlighted the discrepancy between reported gross collections and actual distributor shares, emphasizing the need to consider factors like GST and other deductions. He claims that inflated numbers are sometimes used to attract audiences and recover investments.

"Some distributors are flashing big numbers, but the distributor share for the last two days is stuck around Rs 55 crore plus, excluding GST and gross collections. This has somewhat dented Prabhas' crowd-pulling prowess," he added.

The exhibitor believes that the sci-fi action adventure has failed to resonate with Prabhas' core mass audience, particularly in B and C centers. This, coupled with a perceived lack of a strong protagonist role for Prabhas, has led to a decline in collections.

"Fans expected Prabhas to lead from the front, but it got diluted and missed its target, impacting the collections," he concluded.
