Kalki 2898 AD Is Eyeing 200 Crore Opener

'Kalki 2898 Ad' is expected to do the unthinkable at the box office. The Prabhas-starrer is set for a huge opening day worldwide, and is likely to become the third-biggest Indian opener globally once it is released on Thursday, June 27. 

As per the initial trade reports, it is expected to go past the benchmark of Rs 200 crore gross globally. Directed by Nag Ashwin, it's being considered a genre-defining cinema combining science-fiction and Indian mythology.

Going by the advance bookings trend, the film is estimated to collect in the range of Rs 60-70 crore gross on its opening day in the overseas market, which in itself will be a new record. The pre-sales business is witnessing better signs than 'Salaar-Part I: Ceasefire'. This means that with the right push on the first day, 'Kalki 2898 Ad' will be able to replace the Prashant Neel directorial, registering the third-biggest opening for an Indian film ever.

'Salaar' opened at a gross collection of Rs 165.3 corer while KGF 2 is right behind with an opening of Rs 162.9 crore. Only 'RRR' and 'Baahubali: The Conclusion' will be ahead of 'Kalki 2898 Ad' on the list. Currently Baahubali 2 stands top with Rs 214.5 crore followed by RRR, Rs 223 crore.
