When reeling in continuous failures and doing character roles in big films, many ruled out Vijay Sethupathi as lead actor and opined that he would settle down as just another character actor and villain for biggies. But he with his 50th film, Maharaja which was released recently bounced back giving befitting reply to his critics.
The film which was released on June 14 in Telugu and Tamil opened to unanimous positive response. The film performed extraordinarily well in its first weekend as well. Maharaja managed to gross around 40 crores worldwide in the first weekend making it Vijay Sethupathi’s solo highest as well. Now, Maharaja is heading towards the coveted 100 crore mark worldwide.
After a sensational 1st week performance, Maharaja’s 2nd weekend has started on a big note. Yesterday it sold about 80K+ tickets on Book My Show which was bigger than the 7th day.
