Bajrangdal opposes Aamir son Junaid film Mahraj. Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, is set to make his acting debut with the OTT film "Maharaja," but the film has already sparked controversy even before its release.

The Bajrang Dal, a Hindu nationalist organization, has threatened to disrupt the online release of "Maharaja," claiming it might portray religious leaders in a negative light.

"Maharaja" is a historical drama based on the true story of the Maharaj Libel Case of 1862, considered a landmark legal battle in India.  The film features Junaid Khan as Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer, and Jaideep Ahlawat as Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, a leader of the Vallabhacharya sect.

A Bajrang Dal spokesperson has demanded a private screening of the film for their members prior to its release on Netflix. They express concern that the film might depict religious figures in a way that could offend Hindu sentiments.

The spokesperson further threatened to take legal action and prevent the film's release if their demands are not met.

Director Siddharth P Malhotra and the film's producers have yet to issue an official statement regarding the controversy.

The first look of "Maharaja," which was released recently, showcases Junaid Khan in a convincing portrayal of a journalist and Jaideep Ahlawat as a fierce religious leader. The film is set for release on Netflix on June 14th.

The controversy surrounding "Maharaja" highlights the sensitive nature of historical dramas, particularly when they touch upon religious themes. It remains to be seen how the filmmakers will address the Bajrang Dal's concerns and ensure a smooth release for Junaid Khan's debut film.
