Ramoji Rao final rites were held with full state honors. The media landscape of India bid a final farewell to its visionary leader, Ch. Ramoji Rao, on Sunday, as his mortal remains were consigned to flames with full state honours at Ramoji Film City, near Hyderabad. His son, Kiron, lit the pyre, concluding a solemn ceremony that marked the end of an era.

Ramoji Rao, the founder and chairman of the Ramoji Group, passed away at a Hyderabad hospital on Saturday morning at the age of 88. His passing left a void in the news and entertainment industry he revolutionized.  

A prominent figure in the Telugu media landscape, Ramoji Rao's impact extended far beyond his pioneering newspaper, Eenadu, and the ETV network of channels. His influence was felt across a diverse array of businesses, including film production (Usha Kiran Movies), distribution (Mayuri Film Distributors), financial services (Margadarsi Chit Fund), and hospitality (Dolphin Group of Hotels).

His remarkable achievements earned him the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award, presented by then-President Pranab Mukherjee in 2016.

The Andhra Pradesh government declared two days of state mourning, June 9th and 10th, as a mark of respect for the media baron's unparalleled contributions. During this period, the National flag will be flown at half-mast across the state, and all official entertainment programs will be suspended.

Among the dignitaries who attended the funeral were TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, reflecting the respect and influence Ramoji Rao commanded across political lines.
