Sathyaraj rubbishes rivalry with Rajinikanth. Rumors of a long-standing feud between Rajinikanth and Sathyaraj have persisted for years, fuelled by their lack of collaboration since their 1986 film "Mr. Bharath." However, Sathyaraj recently revealed the real reason behind their absence from each other's films: role dissatisfaction.
Sathyaraj explained that he was offered roles in both "Sivaji" (2007) and "Enthiran" (2010) but turned them down as he wasn't satisfied with the characters. He emphasized, "Otherwise, what problems do we have?"
The rumors of a feud likely stemmed from a few incidents in the 1990s and early 2000s. Sathyaraj's political comments, which some Rajinikanth fans interpreted as targeted at the superstar, fueled speculation. Additionally, his remarks during the Hogenakkal Falls water dispute further intensified the rumors.
However, Sathyaraj has never publicly spoken ill of Rajinikanth, even going so far as to comment in the mid-2000s that the superstar looked like a star even in his sleep.
This long-awaited reunion is finally happening in Lokesh Kanagaraj's upcoming film, "Coolie." Though the director hasn't officially announced Sathyaraj's involvement, the actor confirmed his participation during the promotions of "Malai Pidikatha Manithan." While he remained tight-lipped about his role and the film's details, he expressed his excitement for the collaboration.
This news comes as a relief to fans who've long been hoping to see the two titans of Tamil cinema share the screen again. "Coolie," set to be Rajinikanth's 171st film, promises to be a thrilling venture with a focus on gold smuggling. Anirudh Ravidhander is composing the music for the film.
Sathyaraj is also slated to appear in AR Murugadoss' "Sikander," starring Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna, and Vasanth Ravi's "Weapon," set to release on June 7th. With a busy schedule ahead, Sathyaraj is proving he's still a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
