Vishwak Sen's much talked about project, Gangs Of Godavari was out for the audience on 31st May. The film which promised to be a raw and intense gangster drama has generated decent buzz among the audience before its release. But, the film faced mixed reviews from critics. Braving all these odds, Gangs Of Godavari remains the top earner among this week's releases.
On its first day the film has collected Rs 3.5 Crores share from Telugu states alone which is also highest in Vishwak Sen's career. The film also performed well during its weekend and fetched another Rs 3 Crores taking its total to Rs 6.6+ Crores in its first weekend. The film remained primary choice for the movie goers during weekend.
The film released with a target of Rs 8 Crores to reach break even point has already done with 80% of recovery by collecting 6.6 Crores. This week too have a couple of releases, Kajal Agarwal's Satyabhama and Navadeep's Love Mouli whose results doesn't effect a film like Gangs Of Godavari due to its mass elements will have a good run this weekend too. The film has all hancea to reach break even and emerge as a box office winner.
Krishna Chaitanya has written and Directed this film while Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya bankrolled Gangs Of Godavari jointly under their Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. Anjali and Neha Sshetty played as female leads opposite Vishwak in this film where he delivered intense performance as Lankala Rathna. Yuvan Shankar Raja has provided the music and especially his BGM has elevated the film to a new level.
