Gangs Of Godavari Registers Highest Opening For Vishwak Sen

Vishwak Sen who has scored a hit already this year with 'Gaami' has arrived with a raw and intense film 'Gangs Of Godavari'. After a dry spell of summer, 'Gangs Of Godavari' is a notable film which has potential to draw masses to theatres. The film navigates through how an underdog rises to powerful and dreaded gangster in Godavari region. Written and directed by Krishna Chaitanya, the movie was released on Friday, May 31.

Despite mixed reviews, the film successfully registered highest first day for Vishwak Sen. Gangs Of Godavari grossed Rs 8.2 Crores on its day 1. The film also surpassed $ 150 K at the US boxoffice taking its worldwide first day gross to Rs 10+ Crores including ROI. The mass appeal and trailer which promises an intense gangster drama worked out and draw the audiences to the theatres.

As the film fetched mixed reviews and decent word of mouth, it would be interesting to see how the film fares this weekend. The film did a business of 9 Crores in Telugu states. It has fetched a share of Rs 3.5 crores from Andhra and Telangana on its release day. It needs another 5.5 Crores share to reach the break even mark. 

'Gangs Of Godavari' headlined by Vishwak Sen also has Anjali and Neha Shetty as female leads. The film is produced by Naga Vamsi under Sithara Entertainments banner along with Sai Soujanya of Fortune Four Cinemas and Srikara Studios. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music for the film.
